Patio Bullrich Shopping Center
Av. Del Libertador 740, Buenos
Aires, Argentina

Patio Bullrich is a posh shopping mall in Recoleta that is a must see for its neoclassical architecture and beautiful shoppers. This upscale shopping center is a place to see and be seen, but actually buying clothing here can break the bank. This is where you will find many high end designers like Versace and Christian Doir. A lot of the stores display prices in USD, so a 250 pair of shoes is really $250. It is very difficult to lose the habit of dividing everything by three before you determine the real price!
The building was
originally built as an auction house in 1867. The auction items included
valuable collections and livestock, but it was best known for its
thoroughbreds. The Bullrich family hired English architect Juan Waldorp
to design the auction house. Today the mall maintains some of the
original aspects of Waldorp's design, including a massive clock tower and statues of animal
heads. The building wasn’t converted into a mall until 1988. A priority
was made to preserve the classical architecture while integrating some
modern elements into its design. Patio Bullrich Shopping
